Introductory Palliative Care Course

This one day workshop for allied health clinicians and registered and enrolled nurses in the acute care setting aims to assist clinicians develop an understanding of palliative care principles, undertake symptom assessment and management required to care for people with a life limiting illness, including best practice end-of-life care. This is an interactive and practical day including self-care and pain management strategies, pain assessment tools and an opioid conversion workshop.

Advanced Palliative Care Workshop

This is a one day interactive workshop delivered by an experienced multidisciplinary faculty. Skills and topics covered include: pain assessment and management, palliative care in the surgical area, advanced care planning, communication skills and management of complex systems.

Cancer Pain Course

A one day interactive workshop for clinical nurse educators and registered nurses caring for patients experiencing complex cancer pain in clinical settings. The program uses small groups, case studies and simulation to enhance skills in cancer pain assessment and management including prescribed medications, role of syringe drivers opioid conversions, strategies with fungating wounds and the role of allied health in pain management.
