Centre Information

The Centre design was undertaken by Bokor Architecture and Interiors [www.bokor.com.au]. They have managed to both maintain a health facility style as well as a comfortable training environment. A drawing of the Centre illustrates the layout.

Key elements of the design are a central seminar room with a loop corridor around it.  On the outer side of the corridor are skills and simulation rooms.

The AV system is based on a videoconferencing network. Each room is equipped with a PolyCom xxx codec that connects to cameras, computers, simulators, microphones, medical equipment and a video projector. In turn each room can communicate via a dedicated network with other rooms and other locations. This permits distance learning as well as teaching to broaden the scope of our activities. Control of this system was designed by Hewlett Packard based on an iPad portable interface.

We have a number of locally developed simulators including Orpheus cardiopulmonary bypass simulator, and SimCentral simulation equipment [www.simcentral.com.au]. These are described in greater detail on our R&D page. As well we use a range of manikins from Laerdal [www.laerdal.com.au].
