ORPHEUS is a cardiopulmonary bypass patient simulator that provides a high fidelity simulator of a patient on cardiopulmonary bypass. This was developed by St. George doctors Andy Pybus and Richard Morris with John Begg and Stewart Montano and Ulco Technologies, a local biomedical company. DETECT [Detecting Deterioration, Evaluation, Treatment, Escalation and Communication in Teams] is a training program to improve the detection and care of patients whose condition deteriorates in hospital. Associate Professor Theresa Jacques, the Director of Intensive Care at St. George, initiated it. Subsequently it has been adopted as part of NSW Health’s online eLearning program. SimCentral is a company founded by Dr. Richard Morris, Director of Anaesthesia at St. George and Craig Herbert. They have developed a number of simulators including:
SimOxy - a simulated hand-held pulse oximeter.
SimCap - a simulated hand-held capnograph.
SimObs – a simple digital display for the vital signs.
SuperAnnie – a chest drain insertion training manikin for the insertion and troubleshooting of chest drains.

iSimulate is the brainchild of Dr. Anthony Lewis, an anaesthetist at St. George and Peter Mckie from Parasol. It is a company that has developed an iPad based defibrillator and patient monitor simulator called ALSi and a fetal heart rate simulator called CTGi. You can find out more at their website.
